2010 Calendar of Events

The 2010 municipal election cycle includes the election of Governor, U.S. Senator (Arlen Specter's seat), U.S. Congress (including th 12^th District, Jack Murtha's seat), and Pennsylvania House (including the 62^nd District, Dave Reed's seat).

The Indiana County Democratic Committee (ICDC) is pleased to announce the following upcoming events:

Becoming a Democratic Committee Man / Woman

Each of the 69 precincts in Indiana County has a Committee Man & Woman position.  The positions are four year terms coinciding with the election of the governor.  All positions will be up for election in the May 18, 2010 primary. Only those who are elected in the primary are eligible to vote in the June reorganization meeting.   If you are interested in serving a position open in your precinct, contact the Indiana County Democratic Committee.

The committeeperson is an important link between the Democratic Party, the candidates, and their community.  You are the “grass roots” - distributing resources on candidates and issues, encouraging voter turnout, and ensuring a reliable election process.  Democrats have the registration edge in Indiana but are less likely than Republicans to vote.  If Committee people – and us as their neighbors – get the infrequent Democratic voters out, WE WIN!   The Democratic National Committee estimates that the 2004 elections would have been won with 5 more voters per precinct.  Let's make it happen!
